Hi Tweeters,

I tried to post on Sunday but the message went into cyberspace not to be found in my sent mail or anything...

Sunday morning I went to the Duwamish area that had been mentioned earlier on the list and really enjoyed myself. I can't recall the names of the parks but I know they were all listed on Kevin Li's Duwamish post which I printed out as a guide. Watched Osprey fishing, the Caspian Terns raising a racket, trying to drown out the Killdeer, found the Eagle nest and I can see why people are surprised the Osprey would go back to their nest because their young or eggs would make good Eagle food. I was amazed at the size of the Eagle nest as if I remember right it is a new nest. Will they have any energy left to raise young? The Caspian Terns are so dashing looking with their black caps. I wouldn't have known to consider this area without Tweeters.

Speaking of which if anyone is interested in Double Crested Cormorants in breeding plumage, with crests, there is a large roost in Cottonwood trees near the Waterfront Activities Center by Husky Staduim. I was trying to count them Saturday night and most of them took flight due to an Eagle flyover. I was up to nearly 100 and I guess there was about 25 more left to count. I don't know how much longer they will roost since breeding season for them must be coming up soon.

Oh yes the Redtails. I have been semi-monitoring (when I think about it) a Redtail nest by the Newport Hills Park and Ride and I heard the young begging for food from a parent this morning. Hard to see because of leaving my binocs in the car and the temp difference caused condensation on the lenses. But did hear the young and saw parent fly off soon after.

Happy Birding.
