Come enjoy the peak of shorebird migration this weekend as thousands of
Dunlin, Western Sandpipers, Red Knot, and Short-billed Dowitchers appear at
high tide at the Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge in Hoquiam.

The Grays Harbor Shorebird Festival, held on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday,
will offer field trips to Pt. Grenville, Ocean Shores, and Bottle Beach/
Westport as well as guided walks along the boardwalk at the refuge. Field
trip leaders include Brain Bell, Bill Tweit, Bruce LaBar, Marcus Roening,
Bill Shelmerdine, Ken Knittle, Rachel Lawson, and other great birders.

Featured speakers will talk about raptors, shorebird identification,
shorebird tracking, birding for beginners, and birding along the coast.
Take the kids to the Fun Fair, enter the 2-mile or 10K run, see the dozens
of exhibits and vendors, or get a book signed by a northwest author.

Most festival events occur at the Hoquiam High School on Saturday.

Best viewing times at the Grays Harbor NWR are Friday 11:40 AM to 3:40 PM,
