Tweets - this is April, right? Almost May? I had to scrape the frost off my
car windows this morning, and my feet and hands were downright cold for the
first couple of hours this morning. But the beautiful sun warmed us up, and as
the temperatures rose, the birds came out. Another huge species count today,
and some more great birds:

Common Loon Well out on lake - new for 2002
Red-necked Grebe Also far out on lake, late
GREEN HERON Two very active birds up/down slough
Wood Duck Several sightings, including a pair
OSPREY First for 2002
Cooper's Hawk TWO together, mobbed by crows, near lake
WESTERN GULL 2nd summer bird. NEW TO MARYMOOR LIST
Hermit Thrush Live one (as opposed to last week) near RC dock
Orange-crowned Warbler Two or three
NASHVILLE WARBLER 2-3, east end
Yellow-rumped Warbler Abundant, mostly Audubon's
Fox Sparrow 1 today, 1 yesterday. Getting late for these.

57 species on the regular routes. Afterwards, I walked through the Mansion
area and picked up a few more. Add it the COMMON SNIPE I saw yesterday, and
we're at 63 species for the week, and 91 for the year.

Oh - we also had Bullfrog, Painted Turtle, Red-eared Slider, Garter Snake, and
two Black-tailed Deer all at the Rowing Club. In the main part of Marymoor,
Eastern Gray Squirrel and a mole???
