Tweets,

stepped outside this morning to the distinctive Tseew-whit! of a
Pacific-slope Flycatcher (hate that name). Better yet, the bird came
out and perched right in front of me and called a few more times,
then flew back into the woods and gave his whole song. And while I
was standing there, an Evening Grosbeak flew by overhead.

I played hooky from work yesterday and spent a couple of hours
birding here without hearing the Flycatcher, but I'm too tired to
look up previous arrival dates. Yesterday I had a Hermit Thrush, only
the second time I 've seen one in the yard, and an unidentified
accipiter who came whizzing past about six feet in front of me. I
also heard what would pass for a Black-throated Gray Warbler, but I
never did get to see the bird, and when I did finally find a warbler,
it was a female Townsend's. Given that I saw a male Townsend's last
week doing a passable BTGW immitation, I'm not inclinded to make an
i.d. on yesterday's singer.
