Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday April 25. If you have anything to add call Harry

Very heavy migrations were reported during the week, especially along the
coast, and at Mt. Tabor and Skinner's Butte as well as other traditional
migratory hot-spots. Most noticeable along the coast were PACIFIC LOONS,
BRANT, scoters, and shorebirds. At Boiler Bay during the week a MANX
SHEARWATER, a YELLOW-BILLED LOON, and over 7000 RHINOCEROS AUKLETS were
reported. WHITE-FRONTED and CANADA GEESE were regularly seen.

Over 2000 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS were south of Bandon April 24. Over 500
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS were at northern Coos County April 23. A male
COSTA'S HUMMINGBIRD was at Yaquina Bay April 19. A flock of 24 MARBLED
GODWITS near Astoria April 22 was flushed by a white phased GYRFALCON.

WESTERN KINGBIRDS were reported during the week from Eugene, Baskett
Slough NWR, and Steigerwald NWR near Washougal. A SOLITARY SANDPIPER was
at McMinnville April 21. Two BLACK-NECKED STILTS are now at a pond south
of Turner. A ROSS'S GOOSE and three SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS were at
Baskett Slough NWR April 21. Four WHITE-FACE IBIS were along nearby
Farmer Road April 24. On that day a LONG-TAILED DUCK was at the Monmouth
Sewage Ponds.

On April 22 a black-lored WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW and a BLACK-HEADED
GROSBEAK were at the E.E. Wilson SWA. The next day a SWAINSON'S THRUSH
was there. On April 24 a CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD was nearby. A BRANT was at
Finley NWR April 20. A male WESTERN TANAGER was on Eugene's Skinner's
Butte April 23. A CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD, a DUSKY FLYCATCHER, and a
BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK were at Creswell during the week.

An ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER, a BULLOCK'S ORIOLE, a BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK,
and a COSTA'S HUMMINGBIRD were in the Rogue Valley during the week. On
April 23 a SAGE THRASHER was north of Central Point.

A BLACK-NECKED STILT was at Bend April 21. That day a PACIFIC LOON was
with 209 COMMON LOONS and 13 HERRING GULLS at Wickiup Reservoir south of
Bend. A FRANKLIN'S GULL, a WHIMBREL, and 45 MARBLED GODWITS were at Lower
Klamath NWR during the week. On April 24 a GRAY-HEADED JUNCO was at the
OO Ranch area of Malheur NWR. Over 70 CASSIN'S FINCHES were north of
Frenchglen last week-end.
