What a beautiful day for birding! Saw 47 species in
about 2.5 hours, and heard but couldn't ID at least a
few others. Some of the highlights included a perched
BALD EAGLE with a crow sitting two feet away cawing
like mad. The eagle ignored the crow, and finally flew
away after dealing with it for some 15 minutes. I
probably would not have seen the eagle if not for the
pestering crow.

Some other nice spottings were 3 pairs of LESSER
SCAUPS, a pair of CINNAMON TEAL, lots of BARN
SWALLOWS, a couple of which were viewed gathering mud
from the trail for their nests. I also viewed HERMIT
THRUSH, PACIFIC SLOPE FLYCATCHER, YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLER, TOWNSEND'S WARBLER, AMERICAN GOLDFINCH, and
finally a blushing red-faced WESTERN TANAGER. A true
highlight to end the loop!
