On the Palouse Audubon (www.palouseaudubon.org) field trip yesterday we
found 85 species in Whitman, Lincoln, and Adams Co. (with the bulk coming
from Whitman). We visited Steptoe sewage pond, south end of Rock Lake,
Lamont, Sprague sewage ponds and Spragure Lake. After Sprague most of the
field trip broke up but Tom & Diane Weber, Joe Lipar, and Deb and I
continued to work our way back through northwestern Whitman eventually
stopping for dinner in Colfax at 7:30 PM! IN the afternoon we visited
Crooked Knee Lake, Rock Creek, the Escure and Revere areas, Texas Lake, and
Little Cove Canyon all in Whitman Co.

I'll post the complete list later but the main highlights were White
Pelican, 17 species of waterfowl, 7 species of diurnal raptors, 11 species
of shorebirds, Black and Caspian Terns, and all 6 regular of usual swallows.
I've listed a few of these below. We had a few migrant passerines but for
the most part were not in the best habitat and did not search too hard for
these. We had excellent weather and a good turnout of 15 people for the
trip.
