Hi folks,

Yesterday afternoon (Sunday the 28th), I was coming out of 3 days of
meetings in Wenatchee. It was a beautiful day, 60-some-odd degrees, few
clouds and a light breeze. I took the side road back toward the Hwy 2/97
junction - going from Cashmere past Dryden. I needed to revel a bit in the
blossoming and perfumed air of the apple orchards.

I stopped at the Peshastin Pinnacles State Park, mainly because I'd never
stopped there before. The balsmroot, lupine and desert-parsley was abloom,
as well as all sorts of more 'minor' wildflowers. Walked up the trail and
perched myself on one of the rocks overlooking the Wenatchee River and
valley, and just soaked in the sunshine and the colors and the breeze....
until I heard the chirrups of the white-throated swifts! It's obvious that
I don't get to God's Country enough, and I really enjoyed watching 8 or 9 of
these birds circling and cutting around the rocks and pinnacles at top
speed.

Didn't see a lot of birds there, mainly because of all the rock-climbers,
kids playing softball, etc.... not to mention that it was 5pm and the birds
weren't moving much, but I did see:

White-throated Swifts
Violet-green Swallow
Pine Siskin
Red Crossbill
Robin
Rock Dove
Townsend's Solitaire
Un-ID'd sparrow
