Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday August 1. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

Juvenile shorebirds are now arriving as the fall migration continues.

A ROSS'S GOOSE was near Cape Blanco July 29. On July 28 three juvenile
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, a WILLET, and a WILSON'S PHALAROPE were at Bandon.
A GOLDEN-PLOVER and 486 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS were on the North Spit of Coos
Bay July 24. At Seal Rock State Park July 27 were 230 SURFBIRDS, 12 RUDDY
TURNSTONES, 2 BLACK TURNSTONES, and a TATTLER.

On July 28 a SNOWY EGRET and a GREAT EGRET were at Alsea Bay. Three GREAT
EGRETS are now at Tillamook Bay. A WILSON'S PHALAROPE was at Gearhart July
28. An AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER and two SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS were at the
South Jetty of the Columbia River July 26. On July 27 a CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD
was on Saddle mountain east of Seaside.

On July 27 a male TRICOLORED BLACKBIRD was at Ridgefield NWR. A SOLITARY
SANDPIPER and a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER were at Steigerwald NWR near
Washougal July 30. Three WHITE PELICANS continue to be seen on Sturgeon Lake
on Sauvie Island.

On July 25 a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER and two SOLITARY SANDPIPERS were at
Brownsville. On July 30 a BAIRD'S SANDPIPER was there. On July 29 an adult
GOSHAWK was near the E.E. Wilson Wildlife Area. On July 30 a LONG-BILLED
CURLEW was at Fern Ridge Reservoir. Six GREAT EGRETS are now being seen
there.

On July 27 and adult GOSHAWK with two young were at Squawback Crossing on
Indian Ford Creek north of Sisters. On July 29 a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER was
at Tumalo Reservoir west of Bend. Another was at McKay Creek NWR south of
Pendleton July 27. A SEMIPALMATED PLOVER and a BAIRD'S SANDPIPER was at the
LaGrande Sewage Ponds July 28.
