Tweets - Five of us enjoyed a beautiful morning. Things started out nippy and with just a hint of fog, but the thin early clouds mostly melted away to reveal a warm, lazy, enjoyable morning. Birds were pretty quiet, but the diversity was pretty good, and there were a few surprises:

Green Heron Several sightings
Wood Duck Many; most or all immatures
Cooper's Hawk? Large accipiter with prey flying west
Spotted Sandpiper One on lily pads near Dog Central
Rufous Hummingbird Female or imm. at s. end of dog area
Red-breasted Sapsucker Rather scruffy looking bird near cars
Red-eyed Vireo Saw 1, heard 1 or 2 more
Warbling Vireo One at Rowing Club
Red-breasted Nuthatch Heard several along trail
Yellow Warbler A couple near Rowing Club

The RED-EYED VIREO that we saw was making a call I was unfamiliar with. Initially, I thought the call was that of a Bewick's Wren. I think this is the call described in the 3rd Ed. NGS guide as being "Quee".

For the day, 50 species. For the year, still at 122.
