Ellen just phoned me from the White River Entrance of Mt. Rainier National
Park (my cue to have dinner as much prepared as I'm capable of by about 7
pm). Ellen, Peggy Braile and Andi Prentice observed one male White-tailed
Ptarmigan atop 3rd Burroughs Mountain. "It was moving." Other alpine
breeders they encountered included Horned Lark, American Pipit, and
Gray-crowned Rosy Finch (snowfields en route).
