Inlanders,

Shorebird migration is beginning to pick up in the Pend Oreille River Valley. This last week I saw several flocks of Lesser and Greater Yellowlegs. I've also seen a couple of Solitary Sandpipers and Red-necked Phalaropes. Not a whole lot of diversity, but they're starting to finally move through.

This last week I also found two immature Clay-colored Sparrows at the location where I have been seeing a pair all summer long. It appears that the pair has successfully fledged at least two individuals. I also saw one of the adults, while I was observing the immature birds. It probably won't be long before they start heading south.
