Tweets - the morning began with the sun rising over the mist on a beautiful
morning. As I drove into the park, a BELTED KINGFISHER sat on the bridge
rail, with the sun behind him, and a drop of water beading on his beak.
Eight of us started out at 6:30, and it took us a long time to get anywhere,
because there were birds...

Highlights:

Green Heron About 4 near the weir
Cooper's Hawk Beautiful bird just south of the dog area,
Spotted Sandpiper Adult near weir, two juveniles on lily pads
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER Two at weir*
Vaux's Swift A couple of sightings of single birds
R-breasted Sapsucker Juvie with charcoal head
CASSIN'S VIREO Near weir - first Marymoor fall sighting ever
Red-eyed Vireo Nice looks near start of boardwalk
N. R-winged Swallow One over East Meadow; 2nd fall sighting ever
Brown Creeper Nice looks near start of boardwalk
Orange-crowned Wblr Near Cassin's Vireo
Yellow Warbler Heard across slough - may have seen imm.
B-throated Gray Wblr Glimpsed in deep forest area
Western Tanager Female or juv. near start of boardwalk

*There were two SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER at the weir, though one flew out soon
after we arrived. The other, thankfully, stayed around a long time,
allowing great looks. The one that remained was a juvenile, with fairly
bold scapulars and no rufous tint at all.

The area around the weir and the area around the start of the boardwalk were
both so filled with birds that they each took about an hour, and we only
reluctantly pushed on. A fabulous day.
