I also have to eat some crow ... the spotted owls I reported earlier were actually BARRED OWLs. I knew that the vertical barring on the lower breast and horizontal barring on the upper breast/throat just didn't seem right to me. They were very gray too (not brownish at all).

Oh and I have to say ... Westport Seabirds ROCKS !!! I'll be telling all birders whose ear can be bent, that these pelagic trips are the best. I saw more Sooty Shearwaters while still in the Harbor than I did on the total of my last 2 East Coast Pelagics combined. You are all spoiled !!!
