BANDING REPORT- Neawanna Wetland Preserve
15 August 2002

Method: Up to eight 9m mist nets are placed in mixed Oregon
Crabapple/Twinberry/Spruce along the the upper Neawanna River,
Seaside, Clatsop Co. OR. Captured birds are measured, ringed
with USBBL numbered metal bands and released. Data on time of
capture and side of net captured are also recorded to gain
an understanding of movements through the area.

NOTES: Of the 44 birds captured today, 37 were hatch-year individuals.
There was a nice pulse of WILSON'S WARBLERS early, but most of the
birds caught today were probably local. There were juvie PURPLE FINCHES
everywhere, most of them taking advantage of the bumper crops of
twinberries and crabapples.

The in-hand photos this week present to species that will probably
be easy for most of you to identify, but have been know to fool
some people...
