Sunday, July 31st, 10:48 PM. This is Tom Aversa reporting on a trip today
birding up through Whidbey Island and then over onto Skagit County a
bit. I had a couple of COMMON TERNS at Coltus Bay, quite a few CASPIAN
TERNS, AND 150 BONAPARTE GULLS. Also, up at Crockett Lake there were good
numbers of shore birds. I had 4 SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPERS there, about a
dozen, ten, somewhere in that vicinity RED-NECK PHALAROPES. Also, 6
species of SWALLOW there including 1 BANK SWALLOW. Further north, up to
the Sammish Flats I found quite a few shorebirds at the West 90 Ponds but
they were all on the 4th pond in. A good assortment of juvenile
shorebirds, including a couple more RED-NECKED PHALAROPES, about 25 mixed
YELLOWLEGS - all juveniles - and 4 more SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPER juveniles
in there. Also 3 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER juveniles - it seems a little
early for that. Mostly it - I also had a juvenile BONAPARTE'S GULL way up
the river, further up close to Hamilton.

Sunday, August 11, 10:02 AM. Steve Dang, 206-368-6887. Yesterday on Jetty
Island, there was one BAIRD'S SANDPIPER; it was hanging out with three
SANDERLINGS. Also, there was one COMMON TERN, and probably 3-400 peeps,
probably half WESTERN and half LEAST.
