At the Yakima Delta on August 1, Bob Woodley observed 8 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS
among at least 7 species of shorebirds. On August 5, a HOODED MERGANSER
and a WESTERN TANAGER were there. On August 6, he found a COMMON LOON off
Nelson Island in Groves Park in Richland. On August 7 there were 3
PECTORAL SANDPIPERS and a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER as well as a BONAPARTE'S
GULL at the Yakima Delta.

At the Iowa Beef Ponds near Wallula on August 3, Dennis Rockwell reported a
SOLITARY SANDPIPER and a SEMIPALMATED PLOVER among 12 species of
shorebirds. A BONAPARTE'S GULL was also present.

Annet & Jim Dittmer had 5 RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS in their Kennewick yard on
August 5. On August 7, they had a PINE SISKIN.

Also on August 7, Denis Rockwell observed a LESSER YELLOWLEGS, and a
SOLITARY SANDPIPER along the nature trail in Two Rivers County Park in
Kennewick. There was also a VIRGINIA RAIL with a chick present as well as
an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER.

Near the Barker Ranch in West Richland, Jim and Annet Dittmer observed 3
OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHERS and a TURKEY VULTURE on August 8. On August 10
they found a RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER in Chiawana Park in Pasco.
