Greetings,

Here are some interesting sightings for 16 August 2002 at Wenatchee
Confluence State Park , Chelan County.

These birds seen at the small bay along the Columbia River at the south end
of the park and
viewed from Walla Walla Point Park, which is the park south of
Confluence Park. One juvenile Little Gull standing next to two Bonaparte's
Gulls [1 immature and 1 adult]. Looked at this bird as it flew and was along
the shore...for over an hour. Studied with a spotting scope at very close
range and went over the field marks carefully. I am confident of the ID
because
of time allowed and viewing conditions but the sighting doesn't quite add
up: considering the date, the plumage and the fact that the species
supposedly don't
nest in the Northwest.
Also on the same bay was an adult Common Tern, which are hard to find in the
county.
Least, Western and Semipalmated Sandpipers, Lesser Yellowlegs and Common
Snipe have been seen in the park in the last several days.
