Subject: Fw: CASPIAN TERNS NESTING IN BELLINGHAM?

Terry may well be correct that Caspian Terns nested in Bellingham this year. However, for those who may not be aware of it, it is well known that (1) fledgling Caspian Terns accompany one or both parents for MANY months after fledging, and (2) that Caspian Terns disperse VERY widely both south and North after the breeding season. Because they can fledge by early to mid-July, seeing adult Caspian Terns attending chicks in Bellingham in late July is far from definitive proof of local breeding.

Cheers,

Chris
