No great shakes but two days ago (August 20) I had a pair of PURPLE MARTINS
fly by, vocalizing loudly, over the Everett Boeing recreational facility
(which seems very close to Mukilteo in fact). That day and also yesterday
(August 21), a pair of COM. RAVENS have also been present in the woods near
the facility. This species is rare in this area in my experience, although
there was a bird or two in the same area during Sept. 2001. Lastly, I heard
a N. SAW-WHET OWL in the woods at our place in n. Lake Stevens last night.
We usually get one or two each fall, but normally in Sept., apparently
passage birds.
