Hello Tweets,

Today my mother and I checked a few coastal locations in search of
continuing shorebird migration and to follow up on recent sightings within
the Hoquim STP to Tokeland route in both Grays Harbor and Pacific Cos. with
several highlights, despite NOT relocating the male alternate plumaged
Bar-tailed Godwit that was present at Tokeland on 18th of August. We had
fairly good weather conditions during the day, despite constant wind and low
clouds throughout the day. Our main highlights consisted of 5 main species
in that order at listed locations:

11 juvenile Red-necked Phalaropes, 1 juvenile Semipalmated Sandpiper,and 1
juvenile WILSON'S PHALAROPE all observed at the Hoquim STP

15 Long-billed Curlews at Tokeland

1 first-year COMMON TERN amongst a large flock of Heermann's
Gulls,California Gulls, 1 adult Mew Gull, and Caspian Terns at MP 20.5 along
S.R.105 at North Cove in Pacific Co.

Shorebird numbers were the highest for the day at Bottle Beach during
incoming tide, eventhough numbers there were fairly constant compared to our
vist on the 18th,especially with noteworthy remaining Western Sandpiper
numbers and the Marbled Godwit flock at Tokeland were 40 less than on the
18th,although numbers at this location may vary day to day.
