Today while in Wahkiakum Co. I stopped by to see if there were any
shorebirds. None, except for 1 Killdeer. But found 1 ad. Peregrine Falcon
on the Julia Butler Hansen NWR. An hour later was again looking for
shorebirds at Altoona. Again nothing. And again another ad. Peregrine
Falcon atop a large fir tree. An hour later heading east on Hwy. 14 just
east of Cathlamet I saw a juv. Peregrine Falcon. Sure was surprised to see
3 in one day all in Wahkiakum Co. I drive this Hwy. quite a bit and haven't
seen any others this year until today. Maybe they are getting prepared for
shorebirds which they love to eat. So maybe there will be shorebirds there
shortly--like next week.
