Hi All,

On the evening of 21 August I drove to the Nisqually National Wildlife
Refuge to hear the final lecture of the summer series. Idie Ulsh was
speaking about butterflies of Western Washington. The crowd was large
enough that Idie decided to do another presentation at 8:30.

While waiting for the second show, I headed out on the boardwalk to see
what sort of dragonflies might still be flying in the cool of the
evening and maybe some migrating birds passing through. Soon after
hitting the boardwalk, I looked up at a many-branched snag near the
water. Sharing the snag with several Barn Swallows was an Eastern
Kingbird! When I returned from the barns an hour later it was nowhere to
be seen.

It was certainly a surprising bonus to a very enjoyable evening!
