Hi Tweeters:
Just a note to add to the birds being seen in eastern Washington, this time just in Richland. Migrants noted here within the past week include: Semipalmated plover, Greater and Lesser yellowlegs, Solitary , Spotted, Western, Least, and Pectoral sandpipers, a lone Sanderling, Long-billed dowitchers, Red-necked phalaropes, and Wilson's snipe. Note: the Common snipe has now or soon will be split into the Common snipe of Eurasia and Wilson's snipe of N. America. Passerine birds have included: Cassin's vireo, Warbling vireo, Nashville and Yellow warblers, an American redstart (found this AM and my first since 1987), Western tanager, and three hummingbird species, Black-chinned, Rufous, and Calliope. Others will undoubtedly appear and will be noted when the Tri-Cities bird alert is posted to Tweeters.
Cheers,
Bob Woodley
