Feather Patterns - Watercolor Style

The incredible patterns and colors of avian plumage fascinates us to no end
as does the majestic flow of colors in a fresh watercolor painting. This

brushes if so desired. The resulting artwork and experience are yours to
keep. You will come away from this class with a new perspective and a piece
of art that you've created.

Location: Center for Urban Horticulture, Douglas Classroom, 3501 NE 41st

Gulls of the Puget Sound Region
with Michael Donahue
Gulls are one of the most challenging groups of birds to identify. If you're
a birder who says "it's just a gull" this class is for you! Nine species of
gulls spend the winter in the Puget Sound region, offering birders a great
opportunity to practice their gull identification skills.
This class will provide an in-depth look at the gulls wintering in our
region. Three sessions in the classroom will present an approach to gull
identification, focusing on identification basics such as structure, plumage
sequence and molt, and will detail identification of both adult and immature
gulls. It is possible to identify those Thayer's gulls!
There will be a half day (8:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.) field trip by carpooling to
visit several local gull hotspots.
Classes: Fridays, November 1, 8, and 15, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Location: Douglas Classroom, Center for Urban Horticulture
Field Trip: November 9 or 10. Instructor will lead field trip both days;
participants will sign up for one of these days at the first class.
Cost: Class with Field Trip-$80 members, $95 non-members; Class only-$70
members, $85 non-members.
Limit: 40 for class, 26 class + field trip
