BANDING REPORT- Neawanna Wetland Preserve
31 August 2002

Method: Up to eight 9m mist nets are placed in mixed Oregon
Crabapple/Twinberry/Spruce along the the upper Neawanna River,
Seaside, Clatsop Co. OR. Captured birds are measured, ringed
with USBBL numbered metal bands and released. Data on time of
capture and side of net captured are also recorded to gain
an understanding of movements through the area.

NOTES: COMMON YELLOWTHROATS and PURPLE FINCHES continue to be the
predominate species captured. Most recaptures were of hatch-year
birds banded within the last 3 weeks. The exception being the WILSON'S
WARBLER which was the same adult reported last week first, captured
in 1999. It is in heavy molt, so it's not surprising that its hanging
around.

There were not that many other migrants noted: a single BLACK-HEADED
GROSBEAK and a BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER.
