Wanted to comment on some recent searching on this I've done. I drove home from the Oregon Coast yesterday, taking Hwy.14 along the gorge and then up US.97, 28 Red-tailed Hawk, no Rough-legged Hawks. This morning I birded the Kittitas Valley mainly just for the purpose of trying to examine raptor numbers. 70+ Red-tailed Hawk, only 6 Rough-legged Hawks! This was with extensive searching. So they seem to continue to be quite low.

I drove from Yakima to Walla Walla and back today without seeing a single
Rough-legged Hawk. Red-tails numbers "seemed" normal.
