Arthur has a valid point. The number of customers certainly plays a
part. Another big influence is that most ad agencies and many of the
design groups are located in New York City. For many of those folks the
mindset is not only focussed on the number of customers, but just
doesn't "see" much of the country very far west. I have known some
people who have grown up in the west, moved back to New York for a job
and the centered-on-the-city view takes over. They know better, but come
to perceive that anything of worth or value is back east. Certainly
given the many colorful birds we have out west, their attractiveness
would sell even if they were "strange" to easterners, but you have to
get beyond the filter. One of those things we have to live with.
