Yes, and please don't forget that most of this nations marketing comes from NYC. If the marketing is all back east, where else would you expect them to get their material from? I'm surprised NY'ers don't just put pigeons in all of their ads! I read a cute story from a birder once who stated that growing up in NYC that she only knew two types of birds until she was 12: pigeons and not-pigeons! Anyway, more birders back east, plus New York City marketing leads to eastern birds in ads. Pretty simple economics and marketing.

This is a matter of simple economics. There are more people and more
birders in the Eastern half of the country. More people means more
sales..plain and simple... retailers make what sells.
Sort of reminds me of the East coast baseball teams versus the West
coast ones. We have better teams, more exciting divisions, etc. but the
East coast teams seem to get all the press and attention. Why? Because
they're more fans back east.

Birded the Skagit Flats area on Sunday, Had two Peregrine Falcons,
three Short-eared Owls, A Barn Owl and a assortment of the usual
suspects.
