Hi all

While driving home from work through Pitt Meadows, today, I was
privileged to see something every birder hopes to see at least once
in their life. The first indication was watching two Bald Eagles
sparing as they passed overhead crossing my route home. I had to stop
for a traffic light which took a couple of minutes then about a mile
further down the road the same two Eagles popped into view only this
time they were locked in what was almost a death spiral.

Here's these two birds, with talons locked, spinning down right over
top of a high voltage transmission line. No major problem normally
but now they have increased their wing span by a a significant
amount. Fortunately they broke apart just before contacting the top
wire of a 3 wire set. One bird flew over the top and the other wound
up flying under with one wing just barely contacting the bottom wire.
I don't know if they continued on with their spat (courtship [I can't
remember which it is]) as they flew off in the same direction behind
some trees that lined the highway.

Yikes!!! And they say cell phones are distracting. All this at 50
mph.
