The Washington Ornithological Society would like to announce the following
field trips:
Sunday, December 8th - Blaine and Birch Bay - Jim Duemmel will lead a field
trip to Blaine and Birch Bay in Whatcom County. Bring a scope to view
loons, grebes, ducks, and shorebirds that winter on salt water bays. This
date is chosen, a week before the CBC's start, as an opportunity to refresh
identification skills for the CBC season. Limited to 8 participants. Contact

Saturday, January 11th, 2003 - Skagit/Samish Flats - Marv Breece's trip is
FULL
Saturday, January 25th , 2003 - Skagit and Samish Flats - Bob Kuntz will
lead an additional field trip to the Skagit and Samish Flats in Skagit
County. Target birds will be birds of prey, swans, geese, ducks, and
sparrows. Limited to 11 participants. Contact Bob for details at (360)

Saturday, February 1st, 2003 - Bellingham, Blaine and Lynden - Dick
McNeely will lead a trip in Whatcom County to Cherry Point, Birch Bay, and
Drayton Harbor looking for loons, grebes, alcids, ducks and shorebirds that
winter on salt water bays and passerines in adjacent land habitat. The
afternoon will be spent in the Lynden area checking farm fields for
wintering swans, owls and raptors. Contact Dick for details at (360)

WOS Field Trips allow members to explore places or revisit familiar haunts.
Each trip is open to a limited number of participants. Each member may join
up to four trips per year (excluding annual conference trips). Non-members
may attend as a member's guest once per year. Questions about field trips
should be directed to the trip leader(s). If you would like to lead a field
trip, or would like to suggest a location for a field trip, send a note to
