As reported in the latest Jan 2003 issue of Wired magazine (page 47), there is
currently an application by the conservative group, the Cato Institute, to lift
the restrictions on DDT in the belief that it could help stop the spread of
West Nile Virus across North America. Also, last year, more than 400 scientists
from 57 countries signed an open letter to the UN calling for the lifting of
restrictions on the use of DDT in the fight against malaria.

The plight of the Peregrine may not be over yet.
