I extended my normal Sunday birding so I could scout portions of the
Toppenish CBC Route #6 for next weekend. The area birded was the
Toppenish Wildlife Refuge, Pumphouse Rd., Lateral "C" Rd. to W.
Wapato Rd., Lateral "A" Rd., and Lateral "B" Rd.

Noticibly missing in all this running around were the Mourning Doves,
I did not see one all day. I notice that they have seen a few large
flocks on the West side of the mountains (ie. 66 at the Stanwood
Sewage ponds) is there a shortage of food or could the mild weather
have drawn them over there? Always something about this hobby that
will make you scratch your head and wonder.
