I have found Am Tree Sparrow just about every time I've looked (in season)
in Columbia NWR. One spot is along Corfu Road about half way between the
turnoff at SR 26 and Crab Creek, around the Russian-olive tree east of the
road and next to the farm circle (corn field this year). They are sometimes
a little north (100-150 yards) near the other trees and shrubs in dense tall
grass. The other spot is near Crab Creek along Morgan Lake Road, in Marsh
Unit One and south. Russian-olive trees or shrubs with taller grass cover
up at Banks Lake, on the Douglas County plateau, in eastern Adams and
Whitman counties, and probably through much of eastern WA in dryland wheat
country seems to have them regularly.
