During a brief walk around Marsh and Foster Islands in the Washington Park
Arboretum, I saw 2 Wood Ducks- a male and female loosely associating with each
other- near the bridge to Foster Island. These are the first I've seen hear
since late September.

Other ducks of note: 7 Redheads, and 12 Ring-necked Ducks (all near the west
side of Marsh Island), and the usual Hooded Merganser, Common Merganser,
Bufflehead, Common Goldeneye, Lesser Scaup, Northern Shoveler, Green-winged
Teal, American Wigeon, Gadwall, and Mallard. 13 species of duck- not bad for
an hour walk in the city limits in winter. Good birding, Alan
