A juv YELLOW-BILLED LOON was at the spillway of Wanapum Dam near Vantage,
Kittitas Co WA on 24 Nov according to Scott Downes. On 8 Dec, Scott reports
the bird was still present below the Wanapum Dam spillway. Also in the area
was a single PACIFIC LOON and the single GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL that's been
around for a couple of weeks. WA DeLorme 52, A-1.

A YELLOW-BILLED LOON and 2 PACIFIC LOONS were seen 2 Dec at the confluence
of the Snake and Clearwater rivers in Lewiston ID / Clarkston WA by Louise
LaVoie. Keith Carlson reports seeing 2 PACIFIC LOONS on the Snake River
south of the US 12 bridge on 6 Dec, as well as 3 RED-BREASTED MERGANSER near
Kiwanis Park. To get to Kiwanis from the north end of Lewiston, follow US 12
across the Clearwater River and then stay right past the first traffic
light. At the next light, which is 18th Street, turn right and follow the
bypass until it ends at Snake River Avenue. Turn right onto Snake River. The
first parking area on the right is Kiwanis Park. ID DeLorme 54, A-1 and WA
DeLorme 43, A-8.

In western Walla Walla Co WA, Mike and MerryLynn Denny report several good
birds. A sub-adult HARRIS'S SPARROW and 2 WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS are at
Madam Dorian Park along US 12. Across US 12 from the park, down on the Walla
Walla River Delta were 55 DUNLIN, a single THAYER'S GULL, 1 MEW GULL, and 7
GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULLS. Further north along US 12 at the McNary NWR
headquarters, the Denny's report 2 LINCOLN SPARROWS and an adult SWAMP
SPARROW along the birding path. Madame Dorian Park is at US 12 milepost 307,
just north of the junction of US 12 and US 730. The park is on the east side
of the highway along North Shore Road. WA DeLorme 40, D-1.

It seems to be a good winter for MERLINS. Birds were reported from Moscow
ID, Cheney WA, and western Walla Walla Co WA.

A HARRIS'S SPARROW was at the feeder of Larry and Jacque Goodhew in Walla
Walla, Walla Walla Co WA on 9 Dec.
