This afternoon I found a Snowy Owl at one of the two traditional locations
near Moses Lake. The heavily barred owl was perched on a power pole at the
corner of Roads L and 4 SE. From I-90 exit at SR 17 and go SE toward
Othello a little over two miles, turning south on Road M, then three miles
to Road 4, then west one mile to Road L. Based on past years it could move
a few miles in any direction, and will probably use lower perches such as
irrigation equipment or the edge of a ditch. It was raining today (that's
drizzle to most of you outside the Columbia Basin) with dim lighting, and
they tend to perch lower when there is more light.
