We got a call today from a farmer east of Ridgefield NWR and I-5 about a
bird he found in his barn yard and he was afraid the barn cats would get it.
The bird did not fly when he approached it but he did not think it was
injured, just tired. When we got there he was in the road with a stick and
the RED PHALAROPE kept following him and his stick. It had drooping wings.
It was easy for me to pick it up and put it in a box. I took it to Portland
Audubon Wildlife Care Center where Bob Salinger said it was very much under
weight and they would try to get it too eat... not an easy job in captivity.
Hope the little guy makes it.
