Hello, This is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday December 12. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On December 9 a RUSTY BLACKBIRD, a TRICOLORED BLACKBIRD, and a YELLOW-HEADED
BLACKBIRD were seen in a large flock of STARLINGS and blackbirds on Sauvie
Island. The flock is at the Kruger Farm Store 1.2 miles north of the bridge.
An immature YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was in North Albany December 11. On
December 10 a BEWICK'S SWAN was at Baskett Slough NWR. The EURASIAN COLLARED
DOVE was seen in Joseph December 11.

A BLUE JAY is now behind the Springtree Apartments at 650 SE 162nd. in
Portland. The BLUE JAY is still in the Wayside Loop/Lori Lane area of
Springfield.

Good numbers of BROWN PELICANS are still being seen along the coast and
recent storms have brought more RED PHALAROPES to the beaches. On December
11 one was at a farm near Ridgefield. FULMARS and shearwaters are still
being seen close to shore.

On December 10 a ROCK SANDPIPER was at Cape Arago. A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW, a
COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, and three PALM WARBLERS are on the North Spit of Coos
Bay. On December 8 an AMERICAN TREE SPARROW was on the spit. Over 1000
HERRING GULLS are now being seen at Siletz Bay. The Warrenton TROPICAL
KINGBIRD was last seen December 7 but may still be in the area. On December
8 a BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER was at the Cove in Seaside.

A late BARN SWALLOW was at Ridgefield NWR December 7. That day three
SHORT-EARED OWLS were in Scappoose Bottoms. The HORNED LARK flock containing
one or two LAPLAND LONGSPURS is still being seen along Livermore Road north
of Baskett Slough NWR. On December 10 a GOSHAWK was west of Perrydale.

On December 8 a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER was on Mirror Pond in Bend. A flock
of SNOW BUNTINGS was at Hatfield Lake December 7. A GREAT GRAY OWL was at
the Wood River Day Use Area near Fort Klamath December 8. On December 5 over
10,000 SHOVELERS and 25 AVOCETS were at Lake Abert. Over 1000 BOHEMIAN
WAXWINGS are now in Joseph.
