Dear Tweeters,

On Sunday, December 15, Howard and Thais Armstrong, their friend Aiden from Ireland (I missed his surname) and I went birding in Skagit and Island Counties. We missed the Red-shouldered Hawk at the Game Range on Fir Island--my second miss on this bird. We also missed the Orange Bishop.

At Partridge Point on Whidbey Island, Aiden spotted a flock of phalaropes. We decided they were RED-NECKED PHALAROPES. There were at least 32 of them. Unfortunately, I had to leave while Aiden was clambering down for a better (and lengthy) look; perhaps he counted an even higher number.

Yours truly,

Gary Bletsch
