An adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was in Lewiston, Nez Perce Co ID on 15
Dec. A dark-backed gull had been reported from Lewiston in early November,
and presumably this is the same bird. It was on the rocky island in the
Clearwater River between the US 95 weigh station and Potlatch Corp east of
Lewiston. ID DeLorme 54, A-1.

A juv YELLOW-BILLED LOON, seen at the spillway of Wanapum Dam near Vantage,
Kittitas Co WA on 24 Nov by Scott Downes, is still present. It was seen 15
Dec by John and Sue Rogers. WA DeLorme 52, A-1.

On 11 Dec Randy Hill found a Snowy Owl at one of the two traditional
locations near Moses Lake, Grant Co WA. The heavily barred owl was perched
on a power pole at the corner of Roads L and 4 SE. From I-90 exit at WA 17
and go southeast toward Othello a little over 2 miles, turning south on Road
M, then 3 miles to Road 4, then west 1 mile to Road L. Based on past years
it could move a few miles in any direction, and will probably use lower
perches such as irrigation equipment or the edge of a ditch. WA DeLorme 69,
D-6.5.

A BLUE JAY was in Lewiston, Nez Perce Co ID on 8 and 9 Dec according to
Scott Brown. Scott saw the bird near his home at 1550 Richardson in the
Lewiston Orchards.

EURASIAN WIGEONS were in the Lewiston ID / Clarkston WA area. Al and Holly
McNeill report seeing one at Mann Lake east of Lewiston Orchards on 15 Dec.
That same day I saw one in Clarkston just south of the confluence.

PRAIRIE FALCONS were reported in both states. Randy Hill reports seeing one
on 10 Dec 7 miles west of Othello, Adams Co WA along WA 26. WA DeLorme 53,
B-6. Dave Holick reports seeing one on 15 Dec in Latah Co ID. Dave's bird
was along Eid Road, just east of Blaine Road, along the big powerline. ID
DeLorme 58, C-1.

If you have any questions about birds on the report, call me before 9 pm at
