I tried to get this out yesterday, and for some reason it never went
through.
I arrived at the K St. sighting about 10AM, after the Bean goose had been
located. After a bit several birders had already moved on, and then we were
informed of another access to watch the field that wasn't so wet. To get
there simply turn left at the sewage ponds and head past the industrial
area, taking the first right, there is no road sign that I saw, but it is a
paved road, and on the right is Anderson-something warehouses, After going
right follow and go right again at the Y passing the Anderson office, simply
follow to gate, and head straight for the field. We ran into some great
birds, nice variations on the Canadas, loads of Red Phalaropes, Meadowlark,
Some Dunlin, and Westerns. Barry Levine, Charlie Wright, and Carol Schultz,
were also there, and we were able to get quite close to the Bean Goose, at
least the guys were. Another birder showed up with only binos, at the K St
spot, and hadn't shown up where we were by the time we left (just as the
rain started) so I thought it best to give what direction I could on this
other access to this field. The light became perfect for looking at the
bird, as the clouds started moving in. Charlie was also able to get within a
few feet of the Phalarope closest to us, and they were simply landing
everywhere there was a puddle, easy to see the orange-bill base with
binos.....Vicki
