Tweets - seven of us started out this morning, treated to a gorgeous
sunrise. Unfortunately it's been a blustery day with strong gusty winds at
times. It made me COLD, and it made the birds a bit hard to come up with.

Highlights:

American Wigeon 1 drake at Rowing Club pond
Northern Pintail Several flocks flew overhead
Common Goldeneye First of fall, a male near the windmill
Bald Eagle Immature bird hunting coots on the lake
Accipiter sp. Adult, prob. a female Sharpie, at RC dock
Brown Creeper 1-2 at east end of boardwalk
Yellow-rumped Wblr Brian Bell had one in the East Meadow.
Pine SIskin Two flocks (40-50 each) seen flying

We had just ONE CANADA GOOSE today. Now that's odd.

Nearly 50 RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS emerged from the very small clump of cat
tails at the far side of the weir. I didn't realize that many could be
hidden in there. Unclear why they all left - weasel?

The real highlight of the day were three male and two female HOODED
MERGANSER involved in courtship displays in the slough near Dog Central.

Strangely, we found just one FOX SPARROW today, but there were 12-15
BEWICK'S WREN. A few weeks ago, those numbers would have been reversed.

For the day, we eked out 46 species. Still at 134 on the year.
