the Columbia River, the best bird was the BLACK PHOEBE that has been at
the River "S" unit of the Refuge since first found in September.
Other highlights were: 2,466 TUNDRA SWANS, 7 WHITE-TAILED KITES,
2 RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS, 84, RED-TAILED HAWKS, 6 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, 1,566
SANDHILL CRANES, 12 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 2, BONAPARTE'S GULLS' BAND-TAILED
PIGEONS, 2, SHORT-EARED OWLS, 1 TREE SWALLOW, 3 BARN SWALLOWS, and 3
WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCHES.
There were some big misses including Hairy Woodpecker and both
