This is the Vancouver Bird Alert for Saturday, December 21st, evening
update, sponsored in part by the Wild Birds Unlimited Stores in
Vancouver and North Vancouver.

The feature bird is: COMMON YELLOWTHROAT

Sightings for Saturday, December 21st

A female COMMON YELLOWTHROAT was found at the base of Blackie Spit on
the south side in the long grass.

The RUDDY TURNSTONE continues to be found at the base of the
Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty on the south side.

At Maplewood Conservation Area a long staying NORTHERN PYGMY-OWL has
been seen for the past month between the Big Pond and the Pump House.

Of interest comes word of the Whistler Christmas Bird which had a
total of 48 species and the highlight being 3 NORTHERN PYGMY-OWLS.

Friday, December 20th

In Pacific Spirit Park in Vancouver near the corner of 16th Ave and
Discovery Street an immature NORTHERN GOSHAWK was reported.

Thursday, December 19th

In a late report 2 male YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS were seen in Delta
along 60th Ave and 64th Street.

In Richmond at Dolphin Ave and Heather Street was 1 YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLER.

Wednesday, December 18th

At Beach Grove Lagoon were 42 GREATER YELLOWLEGS.
