Well we did it, we drove all the way over to Aberdeen just to look for the Bean Goose. All day the 20th and the 21st we searched through flock after flock of Canada Geese of one race or another, but to no avail. MerryLynn and I searched from Ocean Shores south to Raymond and on down to the Palix River. NO BEAN GOOSE, but we did trip across a number of birders we have not seen for sometime and that was fun. The following is a short summary of the "good" birds we saw on the wetside.

21 Dec.2002
Northern Shrike----1 adult about quarter mile east of Tokeland along the main highway towards Raymond.

Greater White-fronted Goose---1 adult at M.P. 16.3 between the Grays River and Tokeland.

Northern Shrike-----1 adult .7 west of Raymond towards Tokeland.

Northern Rough-legged Hawk---1 sub-adult just south of South Bend about ..8 miles along highway.

White-tailed Kites----4 birds 1.7 miles south of South Bend off to the west along the highway.

Snow Geese----4 birds at the west end of Curruthers Slough south of South Bend.

Greater White-fronted Geese----4 birds at west end of Curruthers Slough.

Short-tailed Shearwater----12 birds off jetty at Ocean Shores, some very close.

Thats it for now. Good CBCing Mike Denny
