Tweets,

We've temporarily left Pine Lake to travel north for the holidays. Today, we
spent what precious few daylight hours we had, driving along the Alaskan
coast, north from Juneau. Among other things, I think I have found all those
Pine Siskins reportedly missing from Washington backyards this year. Here is
a list of today's highlights, including mammals:

Bald Eagle (2 dozen)
Gulls (one zillion, Mew, Herring, Glaucous)
Magpie (? dozen)
Stellar's Jay (? dozen)
Great Blue Heron (4)
Common Raven (one zillion)
Barrow's Goldeneye (2 pair)
Harlequin Duck (6 prs.)
Horned Greebe (2)
Pine Siskin (two zillion)
Surf Scoter (4 males)
Canada Goose (200 Dusky)
Belted Kingfisher (2)
Pelagic Cormorant (1)
Sea Lions ( 20-30)
Humpback Whales (6!)

Before returning to Seattle late Saturday, we're taking a charter plane to
Haines, AK, and will spend two days filming and photographing at the Chilkat
Bald Eagle Preserve. There are between 3,000-4,000 Bald Eagles just hanging
out there, waiting for us. :)

Happy Holidays to all,

Linda Davey
