As 2002 comes to an end in snowless but cold Wyoming, I, like many, reflect upon the past year. We have one robin, twenty house finches, one flicker and a few starlings and house sparrows regularly visiting our back yard heated washtub. Otherwise dreary, bird wise. We saw almost no fall songbird migration; it is as if all of the white-crowned sparrows and goldfinches and yellow-rumped warblers and towhees who normally stop off for a migration fuel recharge were mysteriously whisked from Canada to Louisiana by an aberrant jetstream.

Anyway, back to the reflection part. We spent a few days in the Seattle area last spring, doing the Marymoor gig and the Westport pelagic tour with Bruce LaBar and others, and cruising around with Brian Bell. I have never met more enjoyable people nor enjoyed a varied landscape more. Thank you and to Tweeters all, a Happy New Year.
