Both the Arctic and Yellow-billed Loons were present at the tailrace of
Wanapum Dam today. We met Denny Grandstrand (forgive me for the spelling
Denny) who was already present and immediately found the Yellow-billed. The
Arctic played hard to get showing up several hours later. The bird was
actively feeding and quickly moved from the eastern side to the center of
the river. Be aware that the viewing location on the east side is best prior
to 10:00 AM on sunny days due to the sun angle. We made no attempt to view
from the west side due to a fishing boat in the vicinity.
Good birding
