Despite recent confirmed sightings, Arctic Loon is still considered quite
rare south of Alaska and a tricky identification problem in distinguishing
from Pacific Loon. Therefore it would be useful to see some detailed
description or some photos of the subject bird. This is in no way meant to
question the skill of the observers just basic common sense. I myself don't
have any experience or qualification to discuss this identification (other
than what I have read) but I know there are others on the list who have.
